The Simple Beauty of Life is Truly Funny

May 7, 2009
So when I received this in my email I could not resist to share as a thought today. Thank you Abby Zimberg for sharing!

Ladies this has to be read, laughed at and passed on..... There is not a woman alive today who won't crack up over this!

The Washcloth..............

I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in
the week.

Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's
office to Tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at
9:30 am. I had just packed everyone off to wor k and school, and it
was already around 8:45am. The trip to his office took about 35
minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare.

As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over
Hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be
able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my
pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and
gave myself a quick wash in that area to make sure I was at least
presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some
clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.

I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was
Called in.  Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on
the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended
that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away.

I was a little surprised when the doctor said, 'My, we have
made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?' I didn't respond.

After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went
home.
The rest of the day was normal . Some shopping, cleaning,
cooking.

After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she
called out from the bathroom, 'Mommy, where's my washcloth?' I told
her to get another one from the cupboard.

She replied, 'No, I need the one that was here by the sink,
it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it.'
Never going back to that doctor ever.

Love is a VERB not a Noun

February 3, 2009

Too often I think we can get caught up in the notion that love is some kind of magical thing - maybe it's books and movies, I don't know. What I do know is that love is really a verb. It requires that you do something. It requires that if someone says they love you that they "act" not just "say" it. It's more than just a kiss. It's more about knowing the person you love and acting in their lives and passions.

What things do you do to show love to others? How have you made sure that relationshi...

Do You FEEL Your Value?

February 2, 2009

On Saturday I had a coaching session with one of my business coaches. I believe in coaching (obviously if I am one, but true coaches are also coached by coaches!) I thought it would be a typical run through with homework at the end. At one point in the session she shared with me all the value I offer. It was strange and powerful. And actually I started to cry.

I think many of us as women “know” we provide value to others. We “know” we are appreciated for what we do every day. Inte...

How have you Trained People to Treat You?

January 27, 2009

I firmly believe that we “train people how to treat us”. Understanding our boundaries and how we want to be treated allows us to communicate it and expect it (yesterdays audio post as about expectations) of those in our lives.

I remember when I decided that I wanted to be around solution oriented, not problem focused people. Just saying I wanted it wasn’t enough. I had to teach those around me what that looked like. I had to be assertive enough to say no. I had to be able to create...

Do you need to "Do Nothing"?

January 23, 2009

Remember "do nothing" weekends? As we grow older we end up spending our weekend cooking, cleaning, and taking care of others. The chore list just gets longer and longer it seems! Maybe you cannot have an entire weekend, but what about a day or even an afternoon? What would you do? Read a trashy novel? Watch a chick movie? Sleep?

Sometimes you need and deserve it. "Doing nothing" in particular can be a great way to rejuvenate.

Do you take "do nothing" time? How often? What do you do with that ti...

What are the 2 most powerful words you can say to yourself?

January 22, 2009

Many would say that are "I can". I believe they are ‘I am”. I am is present tense, which makes it real to your mind. That means your body will do it. Think about it - do you say to yourself: "I am so fat."? or do you say, "I am a learn mean sex machine!" Ok, you get the point!

So stop saying: "I am so tired.", when you wake up in the morning! Say: "I am feeling full of energy!"

Think about the "I am's" in your life. What ones is it time to change?

Can You Love and Allow Them to be FREE?

January 19, 2009
On 1/16 I posted a tweet about loving someone that created some conversation, and it got me thinking. (To see the actual comment on love go here.)

Remember Richard Bach? "If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they're yours ; if they don't they never were."

What if that really means that you are able to accept and love someone for EXACTLY who they are, with all their weaknesses and imperfections? What if it means that you set them free by allowing them to truly be WHO THEY ARE, r...
