Zena Woman Thought of the Day 11/26

Posted by Ann Evanston on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, In : Thought of the Day

Stop sticking your big old “BUT” in it!

But is such a dangerous word! When you use the word but you negate the prior statement. And if you really think about it, typically you do not intend to. “I love you honey but…” “You did a great job, but…” “Thank you for your help, but…”

When you stop sticking that but in there, you typically get a better response from your loved ones, team members and co-workers!

Try it, I think it will work!

Zena Woman Thought of the Day 11/25

You are either green and growing or ripe and rotten. Simple but true. Remember when your dad used to ask: “What did you learn today honey.” Ok, maybe he didn’t but you have heard it somewhere! Learning keeps us young and interesting! I find people who do not learn are boring! Learn something new today – stretch your comfort zone – you will be more adaptable, flexible and interesting!

What can you learn today?

Zena Woman Thought of the Day 11/24

Posted by Ann Evanston on Monday, November 24, 2008, In : Thought of the Day

We are meant to start over. If we were not, there would not be so many Mondays! Even a day would be much longer than 24 hours! See a new day, or a new week as a “do-over”. You get another chance to love more, laugh more, and live more!

What can you do today to start over? Where can you love, laugh and live more?

Everyone goes through tough times. Sometimes it's easy as women to be the "pity party" friend and just keep on wallowing in pity! When you support people and encourage them through these times, rather than continuing down the path of "woe is me", you'll be in...

Zena Women Thought of the Day 11/19

Posted by Ann Evanston on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, In : Thought of the Day

What are the 2 most powerful words you can say to yourself? I AM. I am programs your current state of being. Whether in the negative or the positive, it sets up your body to experience what you are saying. Think about it. Did you wake up and say to yourself; “I am so tired,” or “I am refreshed and ready for the day.”

Do you say:

“I’m fat” or “I’m a lean, mean machine!”

“I’m broke” or “I’m attracting everything I need and more.”

How can you change your I AM ...

I love my sister. She is truly my best friend and the woman I most admire. Carey is smart, fun, and incredible business woman, corporate leader, and a fabulous mom. We grew up in tough circumstances and we are so close as adults. Sometimes it brings tears to my eyes when I think about how lucky I am! Having someone in your life that truly loves you for you is one of the most powerful motivators in your life!

Who is that person? How do you make sure they know they are admired and loved?

Zena Women Thought of the Day

Being gracious to others is such a simple way to feel great. Opening the door for someone, offering to help an elderly person with their bags, calling the checkout person by their name, saying good morning to the toll booth person – all simple yet powerful ways to be gracious.

What can you do to reach beyond yourself and be gracious to another?

Zena Women Thought of the Day

Who you are and what you do are two different things. What you do (roles you play) can change. Who you are is what you bring to those roles. For example I love to learn, I bring that into my roles as business woman, writer, and partner in a relationship

Who are you? Know what you bring into every role you play and you will feel energized!

Love is a verb not a noun – it requires you DO something.

What will you do to show others love? What will you do to show yourself love?

Today I am treating myself to a facial. Everyday I ask myself what can I do today to make Michael's (my husband) life a little bit better. A random act of kindness goes along way. I just love this Though of the Day....very inspiring and full of impact.
